Igor Stimac could have scripted history in his very first official worldwide match as the Indian coach had the Blue Tigers managed to retain their lead for the remaining eight minutes against Oman last week.

Where is India vs Qatar FIFA World Cup Qualifier match being played? Off the six official matches that India have played against Qatar now, this is only their second draw while the Blue Tigers still do not have the victory against them.

Ranked 62nd in the world, Qatar will start against 103-ranked India as the overwhelming favourite. They will look to claim their second consecutive win after crushing Afghanistan 6-0 in their opening match on September 5.

Captain Sunil Chhetri, who scored the lone Indian goal against Oman in the 24th minute, conceded that Tuesday's match will be the most hard of the campaign.

Mandar Rao Desia gave away possession cheaply four minutes later to Abdulaziz Hatem who curled his effort towards the top corner only to see it miss by a matter of inches, before Gurpreet once again kept out a pile-driver from Al Haydos in the 21st minute. "We have to make sure we don't repeat the small mistakes that cost us three points (against Oman)", the 35-year-old talisman said.

India were without their talismanic striker Sunil Chhetri but every player on the pitch gave their all and defended their hearts out to get this result. "Qatar are the strongest team in the group and playing them will not be easy". Igor Stimac had only good things to say about India and Indian football. India had played a much-better football than Oman and should be cursing their stars for losing the match. They also performed well in the AFC Asian Cup earlier this year and they are always improving.
