Northeast Ohio Red Cross sending volunteers, vehicles to help Hurricane Dorian victims

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) IEEE-USA Community Outreach (MOVE) Mobile Outreach VEhicle Volunteers at our American Red Cross District 6 Headquarters with DST Disaster Services Technology Team in Wilmington, North Carolina for Hurricane Florence Response. Local Red Cross volunteers from Benton County and Chester County will be deploying to support the Hurricane Dorian disaster relief.

There was no immediate word on casualties in the low-lying islands.

The organization says that while the exact path of Dorian is still uncertain, 19 million people live in areas that could be impacted by wind, as much as 15 inches of rain, flooding and a high storm surge.

Almost 50,000 people in the Southeast could need emergency shelter.

The Red Cross encourages any visitors of a local shelter to bring along items for each member of their family to help lift possible burdens during and after the storm.
