Some of those cheering fans helped Trebek ring in his birthday on set last month, and Thursday's video shows Trebek mugging for the crowd as they sing "Happy Birthday" while he stands beside a cake that says - what else?

LOS ANGELES (AP) - "Jeopardy!" host Alex Trebek has returned to work, saying he's "on the mend" following treatment for pancreatic cancer. One Jeopardy! contestant, James Holzhauer, donated some of his winnings to a local charity walk raising money to fight pancreatic cancer in Trebek's honor.

In a new video for "Jeopardy!" viewers, Trebek said his chemotherapy treatments are "over" and he's "on the mend".

Back in March, Trebek shocked his dedicated following by announcing he was fighting the disease. "Let me tell you, it's going to be a good year", said Trebek, 78, emphasizing the word "good". "I've gone through a lot of chemotherapy and thankfully that is now over".

In the short clip, Trebek also seems ready to reveal another personal detail about himself: "Who would I want to play me if I ever did a biographical film about me?" he asks. "Now, just like 50,000 other people in the United States each year, this week I was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer".

"The doctors said they hadn't seen this kind of positive result in their memory", Trebek said at that time, adding that he cried "tears of joy, not tears of depression" upon learning the good news.
