The main cast for Netflix's live-action Cowboy Bebop was pretty complete, but the show has just cast one of the more integral characters in Spike Spiegel's journey. It follows a group of bounty hunters - including Spike Spiegel (Cho), Jet Black (Shakir), Faye Valentine (Pineda), and Radical Ed (to be cast) - who hunt down the most risky criminals in the solar system. They'll even save the world - for the right price.

Alex Garcia Lopez (Daredevil and The Punisher) will direct the first two episodes in a 10-episode series, while Andre Nemec, Josh Appelbaum, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg of Midnight Radio will serve as showrunners/executive producers. Deadline reports Elena Satine will be playing Julia, the woman who John Cho's Spike Spiegel is infatuated with.

Satine most recently was seen recurring as Maggie in CBS All Access' Strange Angel. Shakir (Luke Cage) will play good cop Jet Black, Pineda (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) will play the bounty hunter Faye Valentine, and Hassell (Suburbicon) will play Vicious, Spike's vindictive ex-partner. She'll reportedly find survival hard in their violent world. She previously played Louise Ellis on the fourth season of ABC's Revenge and is known for her roles on Magic City and The Gifted.

The series is a co-production between Netflix and Tomorrow Studios, with the director of the original Cowboy Bebop series, Shinichiro Watanabe, serving as a consultant. Christopher Yost, who previously penned "Thor: The Dark World" and "Thor: Ragnarok", will write the first episode and executive produce. Other executive producers include Yost, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Yasuo Miyakawa, Masayuki Ozaki, Shin Sasaki, Tetsu Fujimura and Matthew Weinberg. It premiered in Japan in 1998, while the Netflix live-action series was announced in November 2018, in a joint effort with Tomorrow Studios.
