Rocker Eddie Money, now starring in the reality TV show Real Money on AXS TV, announced today that he has esophageal cancer.

Money's comments appear in a video released Saturday from his AXS TV reality series "Real Money".

"I thought I was going in to get a checkup, and he told me that, uh, I got cancer", Money said in the TV scene. "We found out that I had cancer and that it was stage 4 and that it was in my liver and my lymph nodes and a little bit in my stomach..."

Real Money follows the daily lives of Money, his wife, and their five children, both at home and on the road.

The cancer started in Eddie's esophagus but, sadly, it spread to other parts of his body.

Money, age 70, will talk about the diagnosis in an episode of the show that will air on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT. He added that cancer treatment had come "a long way" and that "not everybody dies from cancer like they did in the '50s and the '60s".

He's had numerous health problems recently including heart valve surgery earlier this year and pneumonia after the procedure, leading to his cancellation of a planned summer tour. The heart issue was a condition unrelated to his cancer.
