You have often seen debate competitions between people.

Along with all the different ways to connect, the Bose Portable Home speaker also features some serious smarts in the form of Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. Google Assistant gave the most correct answers to the questions asked on the smartphone.

"Worried parents and news outlets alike have fretted about how the personification of digital assistants affects our politeness, yet we have found little reason to worry about adults becoming ruder as a result of ordering around Siri or Alexa", study creator James Gaskin, associate professor of information systems at BYU, said.

Apple Siri came in second place with 83.1 percent of questions answered correctly.

The three digital assistants were tested in five categories: Local, Commerce, Navigation, Information, and Command. In which Siri was ahead of Google Assistant in the command category.

Alexa, which can send voice messages and call other Alexa devices, can't send texts, emails or initiate a phone call. A similar competition was organized in July 2018. Amazon Alexa trailed behind, delivering only 79.8 percent correct answers.

The research team reported that the test was taken on a smart phone instead of a smart speaker.

"The Vector Robot appears to do a good job of embodying a digital assistant in a way that is easily personifiable if we did the same type of study using a Vector Robot, I believe we would have found a much stronger effect on human interactions", Burton said. The same atmosphere was kept in the test.

The test was conducted using the Google Assistant on a Pixel XL running Android 9 Pie, Siri on iOS 12.4, and Alexa via the iOS app. Cortana, which was included in previous tests, was eliminated this year due to changes announced by Microsoft earlier this year. And while there solid options from JBL and others, Bose's product is the first portable smart speaker that can be used with both Google Assistant and Alexa. Talking to understand the questions, Google Assistant understood all 800 questions correctly, while Siri got two questions wrong and Alexa got only one wrong.
