The Brazil forward's widely expected summer return to Spain has not yet materialised, and while Leonardo admitted there had been talks between sides, there has been no progress.

"As you know, there have been discussions over his future", Leonardo told RMC Sport.

Premier League fantasy: Sign up now!

But even if pursuing Neymar can only reach a dead end, the La Liga title holders would be wise to try and appease the best player in the world.

As well as Barcelona, Real Madrid are fighting to secure Neymar's signature.

Neymar has not played for PSG since May 11 and missed the Copa America with an ankle ligament injury. "He is following his personalised recovery schedule".

Madrid - and if reports are to be believed, specifically Zinedine Zidane - have decided that they can't wait for Vinicius and Rodrygo to mature into the players they might become and that they need Neymar's football quality now.

"Everything needs to be settled and analysed before Neymar can play again".

The Ligue 1 champions have so far resisted all advances for Neymar despite his reported intention to leave the French capital.

"I'm the coach, my job is to adapt to the players I've got".

"Honestly, I think he is a good kid at heart". And on the pitch, he's an wonderful player.

"Things are simple", Leonardo said.

"The fracture to the fifth metatarsal has healed".

Philippe Coutinho is on the verge of completing a move to Bayern Munich, but Neymar's situation is the one preoccupying Barcelona the most at the moment.

Dembele has supposedly called PSG boss Tuchel that he is not interested in making the move to Ligue 1.
