Pedro hopes to get the better of Van Dijk and Liverpool to secure a win what would represent his fourth UEFA Super Cup triumph, having lifted the trophy three times with Barcelona.

Van Dijk has been rated as one of the best buys that Liverpool have ever made but some pundits are sceptic before jumping to conclusions since the Premier League has seen a series of one season wonders.

New signing Adrian will step into the starting XI and Van Dijk believes the former West Ham goalkeeper is ready for the occasion.

The centre-back is expected to be one of the top contenders for the Ballon D'Or this year after guiding Liverpool to glory in Europe.

The Dutch global was easily the best centre-back last season in the whole of Europe and not many defenders could match up to his cable which means the Chelsea attackers will have their work cut out in Istanbul.

And Pedro is under no illusions over the difficulty of the task at hand, crediting Van Dijk as being one of the elite defenders in the world.

Frank Lampard's side, winners of the Europa League under Maurizio Sarri last season, take on Champions League holders Liverpool in Istanbul on Wednesday.

"Sergio Ramos is very good". As a central defender he is great with the ball, a good passer and a good defender as well.

"He is so strong and very good in the air".

"He's in a good moment".

"He is a good defender as well". It is going to be a new game.

"It's another trophy, it's good when you start the season winning a trophy - it's good for confidence, for the future", he said.

"Liverpool are a good team and good at counter-attacks as well".

"We need to read the game well and stay compact and if we create chances we need to score". I have good memories of the last final [in 2015].
