Hearts complete signing of goalkeeper Joel Pereira from Manchester United

Manchester United youngster Joel Pereira has secured a temporary move away from the club as he links up with Hearts for the season.

Craig Levein deserves time to meld his team at HeartsThe Portuguese youth global, born and raised in Switzerland, joins Craig Levein's men from English giants Manchester United.

With David de Gea, Sergio Romero and Lee Grant all ahead of him in the pecking order, it makes sense for the Portuguese prospect to look elsewhere for minutes to develop.

The Portuguese youth global has found opportunities hard to come by in the last couple of years after being handed three appearances at Old Trafford by former manager Jose Mourinho.

Pereira made two appearances for United in the 2016/17 season and another the following campaign.

The former Portugal Under-21 global has also had loan spells with Rochdale, Portuguese clubs Belenenses and Vitoria Setubal plus Belgian side Kortrijk.

Pereira, whose contract at Old Trafford runs until 2021, is the second United player to move to Tynecastle in recent years, following in the footsteps of Demetri Mitchell, who spent a season and a half with the Edinburgh side.
