Facing Vicente Luque in the co-main event at a UFC on ESPN event in Uruguay, Perry took a knee to the face in the third round.

Luque landed a devastating knee flush on Perry's face, shattering his nose in one of the worst broken noses in MMA history.

Shortly after the defeat, Perry's new image was photographed by UFC President Dana White, who uploaded a snap of the fighter's amateur rhinoplasty job for the world to see.

Perry was taken to hospital after the fight to have a CT scan, while a report from Damon Martin said he was also experiencing breathing issues related to the broken nose.

Of course, the result wasn't what caused the majority of comments regarding the fight.

While Luque was crowned the victor, the damage to Perry's nose wasn't entirely for nothing-the match was named Fight of the Night and both men walked away with an extra $50,000.

In the end, the judges saw it as a split decision in favour of Luque - moving his UFC record to 10-2, with this fight, in particular, standing as a truly memorable feather in his cap.

However, despite his recent loss, one potential future opponent for Platinum could be against former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler as they both look to climb back up the welterweight division.

Perry, meanwhile, is expected to stay in Montevideo for at least a couple days before returning home.
