His actions, however, were criticised by his own captain Leonardo Bonucci, while former Juventus coach Max Allegri initially insisted Kean should not have provoked the crowd.

Bonucci later claimed his comments had been misunderstood.

"It [the banner] is handsome because racism is horrendous and we have to fight out against racists", said Kean. Like everybody knows, we have to fight against racism. This is the real reason.

Everton new-boy Jean-Philippe Gbamin said he was aware of his new club's interest in him for over a year, as per the Liverpool Echo.

Kean's determination to look ahead to a new start in a new country should not, however, be seen as an attempt to draw a veil over the recent past.

"This is why I am here because we are ambitious, both myself and the team". I also spoke to my companions at Juventus.
