OnePlus TV listing hints at Android TV, screen sizes, and USA availability

The remote control for the OnePlus TV had earlier last month received Bluetooth SIG certification. The listing gives us more details about this upcoming device.

Very little is actually known about how OnePlus plans to make its TV different to any other, but the Bluetooth listing does say that it's an Android TV. It will be interesting to see if OnePlus launches the TV with Android Pie, which recently rolled out to the NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV. The listing also reveals support for Bluetooth 5.0 on these TVs but there's not much more than that.

We don't know for sure what kind of technology the OnePlus TV displays will boast, but we might know the thumbs of the panels. So how big will the display be?

There are a number of models listed and those codes contain some familiar numbers - 43, 55, 65 and 75 - common TV sizes.

40 model numbers doesn't mean there will be 40 unique OnePlus TVs.

This isn't a guarantee of screen size or locale, but the first two numbers are in line with popular screen sizes, while the last two letters certainly seem like country codes.

For example, the model number 43Q2IN suggests that this is a 43-inch model intended for India. There are also model numbers like 75Q2CN (potentially a 75-inch model for China) and 65Z3US (suggesting a 65-inch model for the U.S.). The 43-inch model looks to be exclusive to India, while the 75-inch may be only for the USA and China. It also means that the country misses out on 75-inch models, with China and the US gaining them. Personally, I prefer set-top boxes over integrated smart TVs, but if the TV specs alone are great, this could be an excellent Android TV option.

OnePlus has publicly confirmed that it will be foraying into the smart TV sometime later this year. Enter your email to be subscribed to our newsletter.
