Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reckons next seasons Premier League title race will be a much closer affair than a year ago when it was a two-horse race between eventual champions Man City and runners up Liverpool.

The 21-year-old signed a three-year contract ahead of the club's pre-season tour and the expectations of him starting for Manchester United is well buzzed in the fans as they don't want either of Chris Smalling or Phil Jones to partner alongside the Swedish worldwide Victor Lindelof.

The powerful Englishman enjoyed a successful loan spell at Aston Villa last season and it appears Solskjaer is keen on keeping him on board this time around.

The attacking midfielder lost his way last season and was recently disciplined by Solskjaer, for posting a lewd video while on holiday in Miami.

"He has always got the quality, talent, he's going to score goals and his work rate is improving".

Many have predicted that City and Liverpool will continue to dominate next season, although Manchester United manager Solskjaer believes it is unlikely that their biggest rivals will have it all their own way again next term. I think we will see a closer race this season.

"What we have discussed can be between the two of us, but I expect more from him and he knows what I want. He's a top boy", Solskjaer told reporters in Singapore.

Manchester United snapped up Wales global Daniel James in an £18m deal from Championship side Swansea City despite his lack of top-flight experience.
