The father of a recently drafted Boston Celtics player was mysteriously found dead in a CT hotel room, according to a report Friday. WTNH's Mario Boone was the first to report Waters had passed away. He's been with the Celtics for the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas and played in Thursday's game against Memphis.

According to the report: "The death is being investigated as an untimely death and is considered an active case, police said".

West Haven police say 49-year-old Ed Waters was found dead at a Super 8 Motel just after noon on Thursday.

Edward Waters Jr.'s death was confirmed to be a suicide, the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Friday.

He signed a two-way contract with the team earlier this week.

Boston drafted the younger Waters in the second-round of last month's NBA Draft after a solid two-year career at LSU.
