On top of the zombie movie Army of the Dead he's already doing for the streaming service is a new anime series based on Norse mythology. That's right.animated Norse gods.

Snyder is now at work on another Netflix project, Army of the Dead, a movie that was conceived of as a sequel to Snyder's Dawn of the Dead reboot from 2004.

Snyder will also serve as executive producer on the series, while Oliva will serve as showrunner, director, and executive producer.

Jay Oliva served as a storyboard artist on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, and also worked on Man of Steel. Stone Quarry Animation will also take a part in the production. Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller will produce.

Zack Snyder is trying his hand at anime. The 2006 feature 300 remains one of his more universally appreciated flicks, though Snyder obviously won't be working from any Frank Miller source material with this new show.

Per Variety, the anime series will focus on the world of Norse mythology. Not that it'll happen, but still.

Snyder and Oliva will write the series. Dave Bautista and Theo Rossi are two of the names attached to star in Snyder's directorial return.

Netflix has not released a timeline for this project's release.

Oliva is now in production on the Manila-set Netflix original anime series Trese. It's planned for a 2020 release.

This new series further builds up Netflix's venture into the anime space, including a whole host of original series announced at the Anime Expo in early July. In the previous year, Netflix has also announced several upcoming anime titles based on global IP, including Magic: The Gathering, Pacific Rim, Altered Carbon, Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, and Transformers - War for Cybertron, all of which are now in development.
