Red Notice is going to be a heist movie, which means we expect plenty of action and humor from this one, featuring a trio of stars that don't need an introduction: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds.

Netflix picked up the film after Universal Studios balked on producing, Deadline Hollywood first reported.

Running contrary to recent reports that Netflix was rowing back on the big payouts after perceived recent disappointments like Triple Frontier, this is the streaming service's most expensive movie package to date by far. Their original content generates critical acclaim and invites full collaboration on every level of production.

When the movie landed at Netflix, key talent decided that it was imperative that the three stars reach parity in compensation for the scope of their roles. Red Notice was at the center of a fierce bidding war past year with Netflix, the runner-up to Universal Pictures. When Rawson Marshall Thurber completed his screenplay, complete with a budget for the film, the filmmakers reportedly sensed hesitation on the part of Universal. "Netflix has illustrated that they are the ideal partners to accomplish this goal". The streaming service agreed to everything the filmmakers needed, showing that enthusiasm for the worldwide action thriller that Dwayne Johnson spoke of and scooping up the project. The budget - including whopping multi-million dollar deals for the three stars and Thurber - is now estimated at $132m. This speaks to the company's confidence in the film and its ability to become a franchise with worldwide appeal.

The action thriller, set for release in late 2020, is centered around the pursuit of the most wanted art thief in the world. "The final numbers could also increase by several million dollars in light of Netflix's standard practice of paying additional for finishing and delivering films to its service".

"So excited about this project!" However, the movie does have a tentative November 13th, 2020 launch date.
