Planes collide on runway at Amsterdam airport

A plane bound for Gatwick Airport has been in collision with another aircraft at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam.

The incident's believed to have happened during the planes' pushback.

Stephen Dunne, an Irishman working as cabin crew in the Netherlands, tweeted out a picture of the planes, rammed up close to each other.

The Boeing was about to depart for Madrid, while the easyJet plane was on its way to London.

"Now missing meetings and stuck on plane for 90min".

An easyJet flight bound for London has collided with another aircraft at Amsterdam airport, causing hours of delays for passengers but no reported injuries.

"Our wing is lodged in a KLM tail".

'EasyJet can confirm that two aircraft made contact during push back from stand, one of which was easyJet flight EJU8868 from Amsterdam to London Gatwick, ' a spokesman said.

Passengers were left stuck on the plane while an investigation was carried out.

Another passenger said: 'My EasyJet flight from Amsterdam to London just literally backed up INTO another plane.

The KLM flight to Madrid departed almost three hours late, although it was not clear whether the same plane was used. The flight is now due to be operated by a replacement aircraft.

EasyJet said in a statement that the incident happened during "pushback", adding that passengers had been taken back into the terminal and given further information and meal vouchers.

The Dutch Safety Board is also said to be investigating the crash.
