At this point we just have to wait for the conclusion of the new maintenance phase of the Destiny 2 servers that will prepare the way for the September launch of the free to play version of Destiny New Light and of the Shadowkeep expansion ( Shadows from the Deep ) on, PC, PS4, Xbox One and Google Stadia.

Bungie explained on Twitter: "Tomorrow (06/27) at 7 AM PDT (2 PM UTC), Destiny 1 and 2 will [be] brought offline to undergo maintenance".

Players who encounter issues should report them to the #Help forum. The reason for the maintenance is to prepare for the new Cross-Save functionality being added to Destiny 2 this fall.

The news was announced by Bungie on Twitter, alongside confirmation that the game will be offline for 12 hours.

September will also see the release of Shadowkeep, the newest expansion for Destiny 2 that will take us all back to the moon, for some lunar shenanigans.

The Destiny 2 servers will go offline at 3pm BST, or 7am Pacific time on Thursday, June 27.

This means that you won't be able to play the original Destiny or its sequel until 3am BST on June 28. The feature allows players to choose a primary account that they can then access on any platform (PC, PS4, and Xbox One).

The server downtime should not affect any kind of limited time activity in Destiny 2 considering that it is a bit of a quiet week in game.

"Cross Save will enable you to select an active group of characters and play them on any of your connected accounts".

As such, you won't be able to do much at all, as the entire backend will be down, you won't even be able to organize your armor collection in the many useful third-party apps that help the Destiny community out every day.

Q: Do players need to repurchase Destiny 2 on each Cross Save platform separately?

Ostensibly, this maintenance window is to support the changes to cross save coming to Destiny 2 thus autumn.
