Police in NY now searching for missing YouTuber Etika have found a body in a river.

Mr Amofah was last heard from last Wednesday and has a history of mental health problems.

The 29-year-old had anxious his followers with his behaviour on social media in the past, with the police called to his home following a suicide threat. "I will be dropping nuclear missiles very, very soon on every single human being... we're about to get some fireworks real soon".

If you are in need of someone to talk to, the National Suicide Prevention Hotline phone number in the United States is 1-800-273-8255. "I guess I am mentally ill". I hope that my story maybe helps to make YouTube a better place in the future where people know boundaries and limits and how far things should go. "I've lived an incredible life filled with thrills and happiness", he wrote.

Daniel Amofah, known online as streamer Etika, was confirmed dead on Tuesday by the NYPD. "And now, it's my turn to die".

Then Etika tweeted in April: "Savonarola!" The online sensation seemed to disappear from the internet after he shared a now-deleted cryptic video at midnight on June 20, where he discussed having suicidal thoughts. As of this afternoon, the NYPD sadly confirmed those fears.

The Youtube star had amassed 321,000 followers on Twitter as well as 252,000 on Instagram. The body has yet to be formally identified, and police say the investigation continues.

Etika's friends and fans - including other YouTubers - have been paying tribute to him on social media.

During the six days that Etika was missing, his family was unable to reach him which caused serious concern. In the video, Etika made similar sentiments.

In a video that's since been taken down, the 29-year-old - real name Desmond Amofah - uploaded a video where he explained that he had "broken his own rules" and was "sorry" before the video was taken down from the site.

Desmond's younger brother, who apparently hasn't spoken to his brother in almost a year, told his the New York Post: "I have never seen him behave like that". I wish someone were here to hug me.
