The Oscar-winning actresses are among seven big names to join The Prom, Ryan Murphy's film adaptation of the Broadway musical.

The movie will hit theaters in the fall of 2020 for a planned awards season run.

The Prom tells the story of four Broadway performers (played by Streep, Kidman, Corden and Rannells) who think they can revive their careers by travelling to a conservative small town to support a lesbian student who is not allowed bring her girlfriend to the high school prom.

Meryl will star as Streep will play Dee Dee Allen, a two-time Tony victor, while Ariana will play the daughter of the head of the PTA.

Kidman, Black Monday's Andrew Rannells and The Late Late Show host James Corden will round out the central quartet of struggling thespians, playing the respective roles of Angie Dickinson, Trent Oliver and Barry Glickman. In small-town IN, they find Emma, whose the prom is canceled after she tries to bring her girlfriend as her date. Grande will star as Alyssa, a popular daughter of the head of the PTA. "Awkwafina will play the group's publicist Ms. Sheldon, and Key will play Streep's love interest and Emma's ally, Principal Hawkins".

Having a cast of this stature is bound to be a big deal for Netflix, so you can imagine the streaming service will be throwing all their weight behind this production.

"Murphy's star-studded cast came together quickly this spring", reports Deadline.
