Amazon Prime just dropped a new trailer for its upcoming documentary series Free Meek.

The Philadelphia rapper is taking his story to a TV screen near you.

Amazon's forthcoming docuseries Free Meek can be summarized best in a quote from Van Jones in the new trailer: "The system tries to put Meek Mill on trial and Meek says "No, I'm gonna put the system on trial".

The five-episode limited documentary series chronicles rapper Meek Mill's fight for exoneration in his legal case while exposing the broader flaws of the USA criminal justice system. There is also the issue of police corruption on the part of his arresting officer. The internet quickly launched the #FreeMeekMill movement, which helped the rapper be released after only five months, and helped to highlight the often-excessive time people are given for decades-old crimes.

"I just thought it was real life for a black kid in America", says Meek, adding, "I chose to use my platform to help others who don't have a voice".

When he was released on bail in April 2018, the groundswell of support inspired Meek Mill to partner with leaders in the sports, entertainment and business realms to establish the REFORM Alliance, an organization that is committed to eliminating laws and policies that perpetuate injustice in America.

The series, which will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on August 9, follows Meek's 2017 incarceration, and the months after his release.
