A steady growth over the weekend, pushed bitcoin price above the United States dollars 9,000 level, while majority of other largest coins by market capitalization are registering smaller gains.

While the number of unique daily active addresses seems to not show much at first, it indicates that most transactions in the cryptocurrency space aren't just being made by large cryptocurrency exchanges, and that adoption is slowly growing.

BTC has surpassed the $9,000 yet again. The last time the market saw this price level was on May 31, when bitcoin held above this level for 10 minutes before crashing below United States dollars 8,200 in a few hours.

The BTC price quickly retracted back to the $8,700 level, which was then followed by a string of other major corrections.

Bitcoin climbed past US$9,000 as reports that Facebook Inc is due to unveil a digital currency added to optimism that cryptocurrencies are becoming more widely adopted by mainstream finance.
