The young prince has rarely been pictured over the previous year.

Others seemed confused that Kate's father, Michael Middleton, wasn't mentioned anywhere in the post and that nothing was uploaded to the account as a tribute to the Duchess of Cambridge for Mother's Day. But now Prince Louis' parentes have shared a cute photo of him on a swing, with father William clutchng him and making a playful face at him.

It was simply captioned: "Happy Father's Day!".

Meanwhile, fans of the Sussexes were delighted over on their Instagram page, when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle posted a new image of Archie for Father's Day.

William and his father can be seen in the shot, taken in 2012, at RAF Valley in Anglesey.

One person wrote: "I love this. A two lovely pictures that show us what it means to William". Attractive family. So adorable. "Have a nice day to all fathers everywhere".

The picture was shared on both Twitter and Instagram and gathered a lot of reaction - with many questioning why Princess Charlotte, four, and Prince George, five, didn't feature.

'Why is only one son pictured with Prince William,' penned one, while another added: 'Sorry, I don't agree with the photo's choice.

The royal dad of three - Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 1 - will be "spending Farther's Day privately with his family", a palace source tells PEOPLE. Both look into each other's eyes, with William making a amusing face - a clear attempt to get his and Kate Middleton's son to smile for the picturesque portrait.
