Mindy Kaling Has Spoken To Marvel Studios About Adapting 'Ms. Marvel'

In an interview with MTV News, Kaling spoke about how excited she and other Desi industry professionals were about the character, and revealed she has been in talks with Marvel Studios about bringing her to life on-screen.

"Now that there's, like, this streaming platform with them, it might be something like that, but I think they understand how much there is. the excitement, you know", Kaling said.

Kaling, in response to Ahmed's tweet, said she was in love with the character. After the success of Captain Marvel, Mindy Kaling chose to advocate for one of her favorite superheroes. Kaling said she doesn't have anyone in mind to play Kamala Khan, stating, "You know, I feel like it might need to be an unknown".

Mindy added, "They really seemed interested and I think they will probably do something". She explained that she isn't officially involved with any sort of Ms. Marvel-oriented project, though she absolutely loves the character, and that she hasn't heard explicit word about whether Marvel plans to greenlight a movie or series about the young superhero. "Riz! I am obsessed with this comic book, I've read them all".

When news of Ms Marvel's debut spread like wildfire, fans were quick to share their two cents on the flawless actor for the role.

But who would play said superhero?

If Marvel is still hotly debating what to do with Ms. Marvel, that means that anything live-action will still be a way off - but certainly not out of the running yet.

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige hasn't confirmed if a Ms. Marvel project is going forward, but his past comments are bound to make fans hopeful.

Captain Marvel released in February this year, so Ms Marvel's time could be nearer than we think. The comics portray Ms Marvel, real name Kamala Khan, as a teenage Pakistani-American from New Jersey with shape-shifting abilities. "Ms. Marvel, which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel, is definitely sort of in the works", he told the BBC past year.

Aside from Carol Danvers, many characters have donned the Captain Marvel mantel in Marvel Comics.
