Teammate Nick Ward said he is entering the draft and plans to sign with an agent and end his college career.

Winston was a first-team Associated Press All-American this past season. He was named Most Outstanding Player of both the Big Ten Tournament and the NCAA Tournament East Regional.

Winston led the Spartans to a Final Four berth this past season while averaging 18.8 points and 7.5 assists per game. He is a former Mr. Basketball in the state of MI, which he won in 2016 while leading U-D Jesuit High School to the Class A state title that year.

"This was an incredible season with an unbelievable group of teammates", said Winston.

The Spartans will likely enter the 2019-20 season as the No. 1 team in the nation no matter what Ward decides to ultimately do (stay in the draft or not) and Winston should be the national player of the year front-runner.

"After consulting with the coaching Staff and my family I have made a decision to take the next step to pursue my lifelong dream of playing in the NBA by declaring for the 2019 NBA Draft", read the caption. "But I believe there is still more to accomplish". From the moment the season ended, I started thinking about what else I could do and how I could improve, to help us reach the goals we want to reach.

"It was surreal to be compared to some of the all-time great Spartans during the tournament because in my mind I still have something left to prove", Winston said. Those goals will motivate me throughout the offseason.

"Based on the feedback I got a year ago and discussions with coach Izzo, I'm ready for this challenge and look forward to this next chapter", Ward said. Cassius is an unbelievably smart player, so he knows that there are no guarantees.

They've got arguably the most talent in the B1G, they've got the best returning player and they have one of the greatest coaches in the game.
