"So sorry to post the very sad news of my father's passing tonight".

In the 60s, Allan cut his teeth on the CBS soaps Love of Life and The Secret Storm, before joining Days of Our Lives in 1971 as Don Craig, a character he played for 14 years. In 1986 he landed what would be his most memorable role, that of patriarch C.C. Capwell on the then-fledgling Santa Barbara.

In 2004, the actor joined "General Hospital" in a temporary role as Edward Quartermaine.

Fresh from mourning his co-star Luke Perry, 'Ziering wrote: So sad to hear we've lost another 90210 castmate.

Born Jed Allan Brown, he was married to Toby Brown until her death in 2001. He played CC Capwell, Eden's father, and was an inspiration, professional, kind, funny, fierce and generous. "Such a great guy to work with, he will be missed", Ziering posted online.

Jed Allan's primetime resume was extensive also; he played Park Ranger Scott Turner in the long running series "Lassie" from 1968-1970, and Rush Sanders on "Beverly Hills 90210" from 1994-1999.

Jed played Steve Sanders (Ian Ziering) dad in the hit American drama Beverly Hills 90210, and Ian lead the tributes on Sunday. Allan would spend years on of some daytime's hottest soap operas, as well as a short-lived stint as a game show host of Celebrity Bowling back in the 1970s. Under it, on March 10 he wrote Allen walked out of the building today. "I count it one of the great blessings of my career that I got to be one of those and one of the great blessings of my life that I got to be his friend".

Soap Hub sends condolences to Allan's friends, family, and loved ones during this hard time.

Allan is survived by three sons, Rick, Mitch and Dean.
