The Ducks have traded defenseman Brandon Montour to the Buffalo Sabres for 21-year-old defenseman Brendan Guhle and a first-round pick in the 2019 draft.

The first-rounder going to Anaheim won't be Buffalo's.

The 24-year-old was originally drafted by the Ducks in the second-round (55th overall) of the 2014 National Hockey League draft.

Frank Seravalli: "Conditional pick details in Montour deal: #Ducks receive SJS 1st pick, or they have the option to select STL's pick if it's between #20 - #31".

Montour, 24, is a puck-moving blue-liner with a right-handed shot. He was selected by Anaheim in the second round of the 2014 draft, and has 16 goals and 63 points in 169 career games.

Meanwhile, Guhle, once the Sabres' top defense prospect, spent most of the past two seasons with the Rochester Americans. The 21-year-old has five assists in 23 National Hockey League career games, while spending a majority of the past three seasons developing in the minors.
