Netflix's Marvel shows are being canceled left and right, but four new ones are in the works at rival streamer Hulu.

Marvel Entertainment's shift away from Netflix became clearer on Monday with the announcement of a massive new multi-series initiative, dubbed The Offenders. Comedian Patton Oswalt is set to produce MODOK, while Chelsea Handler will produce Tigra & Dazzler and Kevin Smith will produce Howard the Duck. There is now no premiere date for any of Hulu's new Marvel shows, but late 2019 or 2020 is likely.

Notably missing from that list of writers is George Lucas, who infamously botched Howard The Duck's biggest mainstream moment in a 1986 feature film. The character of M.O.D.O.K. dates back to 1967 and is described by Hulu as "an egomaniacal supervillain with a really big head and a really little body, who struggles to maintain control of his evil organization and his demanding family".

Meanwhile, M.O.D.O.K.'s popularity as a maniacal, inefficient villain seems like a good match for the comedy of Oswalt and Blum (American Dad, Community), while we'll have to see what exactly the co-directing duo of Gordon and Speck, best known for 2017's Office Christmas Party, can do with an anti-hero like Hit Monkey.

Meanwhile, writers Josh Gordon and Will Speck will tackle Hit Monkey which is described as follows: "Marvel's Hit Monkey tells the tale of a wronged Japanese snow monkey, mentored by the ghost of an American assassin, as he cuts a wide swath through the Tokyo underworld in this darkly cinematic and brutally amusing revenge saga".

In the series, Howard the Duck is trapped in a world he never made, but America's favorite fighting fowl hopes to return home with the help of his unstoppable gal pal Beverly before the evil Dr. Bong can turn him the crispiest dish on the menu... The HTD series based on the cigar chomping character first introduced in the comics in 1973 will be stewarded by Clerks kingpin Kevin Smith, along with Dave Willis. Writers Erica Rivinoja and Chelsea Handler serve as executive producers along with Jeph Loeb.

The four upcoming shows are M.O.D.O.K, Hit-Monkey, Tigra & Dazzler Show, and Howard The Duck, and all arrive with some impressive creative names attached. Jeph Loeb will executive produce.
