I have future without Manchester United: Jose Mourinho

"He's influenced me with everything, to be fair", United's interim boss said.

"I didn't think twice when they called me to sign me as a player, and obviously this is more of an honour and privilege to be helping the club for a few months I have to say", the Norwegian said.

Solskjaer said: "He's had a couple of days off, so I've not seen him yet". "They are quality players so it will be easier to get players expressing themselves".

It is alleged he told the World Cup victor that United are bigger than any player or manager, before reminding the squad anyone could be moved on if they fail to meet the standards set at Old Trafford.

"Zidane is another fantastic choice in my opinion but on the other side of that coin is the calibre of players he inherited at Real Madrid is completely different to the ones at Manchester United".

"On my debut [in 1996], when I came on and scored [against Blackburn Rovers], I turned around and Eric [Cantona] was the first one celebrating with me".

"You play with courage, go out there and express your skills".

"I am one of them, but it is not something we have talked about". I have had the best man-manager. Lots of my management evolves around what I learnt from him.

The inevitable question regarding United's culture of promoting youth to the first team was asked and Solskjaer sounded very excited about carrying on the tradition. Sir Alex Ferguson said go out and express and take risks. I could speak about not as good but that's not me. I hope you media respect this way for me to be.

So often previous United manager Alex Ferguson's go-to substitute when things were going wrong on the pitch-most notably his match-winning goal in the 1999 Champions League final-the Norwegian now faces another rescue act.

"But if you look around realistically at the moment, it's a amusing situation as Spurs are 13 points clear of United in the table and in a better position than their rivals up north. It's been 20 years - it's unbelievable how time flies".

Following the interview, Mourinho released a statement saying he was "immensely proud to wear the badge of Manchester United since the first day I arrived".

"Man United is the model".

"I think you know me, I don't change".

Solskjaer said: "The first thing is the first game".

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer certainly gets what it means to be a part of Manchester United and the fans will certainly hope that the players buy into his philosophy to make Old Trafford a happy place once again.
