The Russian Defense Ministry has deployed more than ten Su-27 and Su-30 warplanes in Crimea. A further confirmation of the relocation of the aircraft, there is not now.

Kurt Volker made the comments during an online briefing in Brussels on December 17, after Russian seized three Ukrainian Navy ships and 24 crewmen in the Kerch Strait that links the Black Sea with the Sea of Azov.

Although the global community does not recognize Russia's claims over Crimea, many say Moscow is determined to solidify its control over the peninsula.

Having said that, Russia, rejects the allegations elevated through the Western world concerning the part the Kremlin played for Ukrainian problems, firmly insists that responses of this particular kind are extremely detrimental and has reacted using revengeful steps opposing the sanctions. "It is Ukrainian citizens living in Donbass who are fighting against the Ukrainian regime, which has full Nazi and neo-Nazi characteristics". Lavrov said, however, the separatist people's republics of Donetsk and Luhansk as separate States. "And what then?" he asked.

Lavrov accused Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko of preparing a provocation for the end of December, on the border with Russian Federation. "Then he gets a reaction that he can Hear and See passes", said Lavrov.

Russian Federation claimed it was the Ukrainians who provoked it into attacking the ships, but researchers later determined that the Russian Federation had pursued Ukraine into worldwide waters.

Tensions between Moscow and Kyiv have also impacted relations within the Russian and Ukrainian orthodox churches.
