Liverpool have been handed a massive boost in their quest to qualify from their Champions League group, after Paris Saint-Germain duo Neymar and Kylian Mbappe came off injured in their respective worldwide friendlies on Tuesday night. Kickoff from Stade de France in Paris is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.

After Mbappe was sent in on goal, Uruguay goalkeeper Martín Campana rushed off his line to win the ball cleanly off the teenager's feet. He immediately went off clutching his shoulder.

Neymar left the pitch after eight minutes of Brazil's friendly with Cameroon in Milton Keynes on Tuesday night with an apparent groin problem.

Neymar had to leave Brazil's match with a thigh injury, and the Ligue 1 champions will now be forced to sweat over the status of two of their biggest stars ahead of some vital fixtures.

He is also now a major doubt to face Liverpool.

The French side are now third in Group C with just two matches remaining, sitting one point behind both Liverpool and Napoli.

The all-time head-to-head series between the two nations is now split, 2-4-2, and the game is a rematch of a World Cup quarterfinals bout won by France this summer.

Giroud made no mistake from the resulting penalty, ensuring that Mbappe's absence was not felt too much by Didier Deschamp's side.

The 19-year-old Mbappe was substituted in the 36th minute after being injured during a France attack.

Liverpool now hold a one point lead over PSG heading into matchday five but the Ligue 1 giants would be banking on home advantage to put themselves back into one of the top two slots.
