Paul Pogba hints at bad relationship with Jose Mourinho at Man United

Manchester United were allegedly ready to pay as much as £100m for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane before the end of the summer transfer window.

"Like I said, when you are comfortable, when people trust you and have confidence then you are good in your own head and it's going to be easier".

The pair of big personalities went back and forth before Pogba, who was the captain on the night, pulled rank and stepped up.

"It's three points, it's what we wanted so I'm very happy".

Jose is the type of manager who gives someone the captaincy for the right reasons and I think he made a decision to give Pogba some responsibility for managing the game and the players around him, which was a very clever move.

It's Shaw's victor. He scored his first senior team goal with a lovely move around his defender and a fine finish to the far post.

The United manager claimed during the tour of the US that Pogba's form had improved during the World Cup because he was free from distractions and fully focused on football.

Pogba has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona in recent weeks, amid suggestions that he was disappointed by Mourinho's faint praise of his achievement as he played a pivotal role in helping France win the World Cup in Russian Federation this summer. "(Picking him) was not hard, the decision belonged to him".

Mourinho has been critical of Shaw in the past but he was full of praise for him afterwards, and rightly so. I want to progress and get better again and I want to win more trophies.

Jose Mourinho lauded Paul Pogba as a "monster" after a strong showing in Manchester United's Premier League opener against Leicester City just four days after returning to training.

"If you're not happy in doing what you're doing right now, there's no point doing it" he says.

"I expect a better United than last season".

That's not surprising, because I know from experience that everyone is a bit rusty for the first game back.
