Final Remix will launch for Switch in North America and Europe on October 12, western publisher Nintendo announced. If playing in TV or Tabletop Mode, you can use the Joy-Con controllers to interact with the game via special onscreen pointer.

A new trailer for The World Ends With You: Final Remix has been embedded above.

The game has players take the role of Neku who, over the course of three in-game weeks, paired with three different partners, is tasked to complete missions in an effort to get back to the land of the living.

If sales of The World Ends With You: Final Remix are strong, then it may very well convince Square Enix to move forward with a sequel.

Vibrant themes of Japanese youth culture, food and fashion are seamlessly integrated into the gameplay and storyline. Right now Nomura has his plate full putting the finishing touches on Kingdom Hearts 3 and directing the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, so perhaps work on a proper sequel to The World Ends With You could come once he's finished with those projects.

In the new chapter with the story, Neku will face enemies not available in the original version for Nintendo DS. New are a remixed soundtrack, and a Switch exclusive new scenario. Any newcomers planning to check out the game for the first time when it hits Switch?

The Nintendo Switch port of the DS cult classic "The World Ends with You" is bringing its unique blend of rhythmic battles and adventure to the console on October 12 as both digital and physical editions, Nintendo announced Tuesday morning.
