Chelsea begin talks with CSKA Moscow for World Cup star Aleksandr Golovin

According to Marca, the Catalan giants have been keeping a close watch on Russian Federation midfielder Aleksandr Golovin, who has been in great touch for his country at the World Cup.

Golovin, 22, has been one of the relevations of the 2018 World Cup, impressing in Russia's opening two fixtures in the group stages to help the host nation through to a last-16 meeting with Spain.

Golovin's performances in the World Cup have caught the eye of many big clubs including English giants Arsenal and Italian champions Juventus.

Sport Witness go on to claim that Juventus have already made an initial offer for Golovin of around €15m but CSKA are hoping to secure a transfer fee in the region of €25m-€30m.

But Chelsea have now promised CSKA Moscow that they will match their valuation of €30 million for the playmaker which has led Juventus to believe that they now have no chance to land his signature.

The Blues met Golovin's agents before the World Cup started and have also been given the green light by Maurizio Sarri, who is expected to become the new manager at Stamford Bridge.

The 22-year-old put in a couple of impressive performances for Russian Federation during the World Cup group stages, which included an eye-catching free-kick against Saudi Arabia on the opening day of the tournament.
