On Friday, a report surfaced from Fox Sports 1's Chris Broussard indicating there was tension between the Rockets and Chris Paul over his desire to receive a five-year max contract this summer in free agency.

The dilemma? Chris Paul is 33 years old right now, and has become injury prone in recent years. Dan and Mike both believe if Chris Paul wants to change his legacy and win an National Basketball Association championship, he may have to swallow his pride and accept that a max contract is probably not in the cards from a contending National Basketball Association team. "There was definitely some type of handshake, wink-wink, "We're gonna max you out" (agreement) last summer".

The Houston Rockets' first priority this offseason is re-signing star point guard Chris Paul. Now, they're not so sure.

Chris Paul likely thought it was a foregone conclusion that he would be signing a max contract extension with the Houston Rockets when he forced his way out of Los Angeles a year ago, but an injury-ridden season may have complicated the situation a bit. Chris Paul recently bought a house in Houston, which is a good indication that he wants to return to the Rockets.

"But they got an out because they got new ownership. (GM) Daryl Morey can go to Chris Paul and be like, 'I want to do it but the new owner doesn't want to give you five years'". In fact, hamstring problems kept him out of the pivotal Game 6 and 7 versus the Golden State Warriors with the Rockets one win away from the Finals.

The LeBron decision is what will make the Paul one easier for Houston. He nearly was in 2011 before the league infamously vetoed, the Rockets were also ironically involved in that deal, as they would have received Pau Gasol in the three-team deal.
