Timeless Canceled by NBC For a Second Time

But, following the adage of "fool me once", NBC has looked at the numbers from Timeless' second season (not great, only averaging 4.2 million viewers) and decided it wouldn't get another save.

It's been a hard road for the cast and executive producers of NBC's Timeless, a show that's been canceled, revived, and now canceled again.

"If NBC is honest in wanting a 2-hour movie to give much needed closure to our awesome ['Timeless'] fans, we are ready to make it", co-creator Shawn Ryan wrote on Twitter Friday.

Timeless executive producer Shawn Ryan confirmed the news on Friday. Behind the scenes, Sony has been trying hard to set it up elsewhere, but no luck so far. Fan support brought the show back to life for a second season which just finished airing.

But there are rumors that a 2-hour series finale movie could be in the works to tie up loose storylines, although the possibility is slim. It became a passion and a cause for many of them. "We don't want the journeys of Lucy, Wyatt, Rufus and the others to end yet". We're ready to make it if @nbc really wants it. Let "em know how you feel". The series begins with mysterious criminal Flynn stealing a secret state-of-the-art time machine, intent on destroying America as we know it by changing the past.

Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, and Malcolm Barrett starred in the show, which wrapped its two-season run in May, with fans immediately starting social media campaigns to get the show renewed for a third season.
