FIFA World Cup 2018 Live, Russia vs Saudi Arabia Live Score: Hosts Russia have a point to prove as they host Saudi Arabia in the opener of FIFA World Cup 2018 on Thursday in a contest between the two lowest-ranked teams participating in the football extravaganza in Moscow.

This week Putin had said Russian Federation - going into the tournament ranked 70th in the world, three places below Saudi Arabia - would "fight until the end", but, in this match at least, a poor Saudi Arabia proved to be obliging opponents as they gave the hosts freedom in possession and, crucially, the opposition box. Germany enters the tournament as the defending champion after winning the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
