Panasonic has announced the launch of the Lumix FT7 tough digital camera, which boasts an impressive feature set that allows it to be taken virtually anywhere.

The FT7 can survive in depths of water up to 31 metres, so will be more than happy in the swimming pool or out at sea, is shockproof from heights up to two metres, freeze proof to temperatures as low as -10 degrees, is fully dustproof and is pressure resistant up to 100kg.

Panasonic has introduced a new tough compact camera to its Lumix line-up.

Inside the Panasonic FT7 is a 20.4-megapixel sensor coupled with a 28mm wide-angle lens offering 4.6x (28-128mm equivalent) optical zoom.

New for the FT7 is a 0.2-inch 1,170k-dot equivalent Live View Finder for composing your images when screen use is impractical. The LVF also saves battery power, which can come in handy when shooting in harsh conditions - such as the very cold, while taking part in winter sports. Panasonic has however still fitted a 3-inch screen to the back of the FT7, which features the highest-in-class 1,040k-dot resolution. Capture the chaos of your kayak capsizing in sweet 4K too. Wi-Fi connectivity make it a doddle to share your splashes and dashes to remind your friends what a reckless so and so you are. Images can also be Global Positioning System geo-tagged to ensure you always remember exactly where your adventures took place. Don't worry about running out of juice while on the go, as the FT7 supports USB charging for instant power from battery packs when wall charging is out of bounds. Among the shooting modes are timelapse and panorama options, along with 22 art filters.

Other useful features for outdoor-type adventures include an inbuilt altimeter, compass and torchlight function, which can be used without the camera being activated.

The Lumix FT7 price will be £399 RRP, and will be available in three colours - orange, blue and black.
