Apple is gearing up to launch the GPS + Cellular variant of its Watch Series 3 in India from Friday.

Cellular: With cellular, you can go for a run, hang out at the beach, or go on a quick errand, and always stay connected. The SIM card data on your iPhone is digitally transferred to the embedded chip or eSIM inside the Apple Watch 3.For those unaware, the eSIM in question is already provided by Apple end and users will not have to do procure it from Airtel or Reliance Jio.

Jio customers pre-booking the watch are also entitled to priority delivery and the company will not require a new connection plan for Apple Watch Series 3 as the current plan automatically applies to it.

The simplicity of the Apple Watch has made is very simple for iPhone users to now leave behind their bulky, unnecessary handsets at home when working out or out on an adventure where you may not be able to use your iPhone as conveniently. With cellular, customers can go with just their Apple Watch and stay connected to the people and information they care about. The Watch can be purchased online and can be now clubbed with two telecom partners in India, Reliance Jio and Airtel. Unlike in the United States, users are not required to pay a monthly fee of $10 (or approx Rs 680) to get LTE connectivity.

Don't worry about the eSIM setup. You can also buy the new LTE Watch from Apple authorized stores across the country.

Apart from enabling you to make calls independently, the new Apple Watch 3 Cellular comes with an Altimeter sensor for better fitness tracking while you are hiking or climbing. The only visual way to differentiate the two version from each other is a red dot on the Digital Crown. The Apple Watch Series 3 LTE was available for pre-order on the respective telecom service providers' online websites.

What about worldwide roaming? Apple lists the requirement of an at least iPhone 6 or later running iOS 11 for the Series 3 Apple Watch cellular to work in India. Will you be able to save money by not subscribing to an global roaming plan from Airtel or Reliance Jio by simply carrying your Apple Watch 3 overseas while keeping your iPhone at home?
