The acclaimed series, which has aired two of its ten episodes for Season 2, continues the exploits of the robotic Hosts as they've achieved sentience and plan an uprising in retaliation for the abuse they've endured from park attendees.

Following the show's recent season-two premiere, HBO has renewed the Emmy (R)-winning drama series WESTWORLD for a third season, it was announced today by Casey Bloys, president, HBO Programming.

"It's been an extraordinary pleasure to work with the exceptionally talented [executive producers] Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, as well as their gifted cast and crew", Bloys said in a statement. And given past events, we know the Westworld team won't be giving anything away about what will transpire in the third season. There is the chance that there will be another long break to allow time for filming and editing. This is also still a show with potential to improve as the season goes on, especially as numerous major television networks enter their hiatus for the summer. In terms of live viewings, the season averaged just over 1.8 million and Season 2 has seen a 5% increase.

The first season introduced the futuristic theme park. Westworld Season 2 sees the robots revolt against the humans and create lives for themselves. Evan Rachel Woods and Thandie Newton have both been raised for their skills and characters. But with the early announcement, HBO apparently hopes to avoid the kind of interstitial delay that separated Westworld's first and second seasons (and has similarly affected the release of the final season of Game of Thrones).

You can catch new episodes of Westworld's second season each Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on HBO, or by subscribing to the HBO channel on Amazon Prime. Is this news you're happy about?
