God of War Could Be Getting Five Sequels

Update: Through a posting on his Twitter account, Cory Barlog clarified the comment he made during the conversation with Kotaku. Most of what we saw is going to be carried over to future God of War games with improvements here and there.

In a recent chat with Kotaku, God of War director Cory Barlog revealed a number of interesting tidbits about God of War, its development process, and the future of the series. For this reason, it would not be surprising to learn that Sony wants Santa Monica Studios to develop more titles. Together with his son Atreus, the pair will venture into the brutal Norse wilds and fight to fulfill a deeply personal quest.

God of War is now available on PS4 and PS4 Pro. That said, we believe that with the good reception of God of War, the creative will have no problem convincing their bosses. It's an hour-long discussion that really takes a deep dive into the latest God of War and its development; it's definitely worth a listen if you have the time.

Jason: So that's 25 years?

One of the most intriguing things to take away from this is that Barlog and Santa Monica already have the framework for the franchise in place, so it is unlikely that we will be waiting for another five years before the next game is released.

God of War is the most highly anticipated titles for the PlayStation 4 this year and it has been very well received.
