Chicago White Sox vs. Oakland Athletics, 4/16/2018 Prediction & Odds

The Chicago White Sox will make a road trip to Oakland to square off against the Athletics at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. He has allowed just one ER on four hits and seven walks while striking out 11 in 13 innings of work in the two starts.

The White Sox have gone 4-8 SU this year and are 5-7 against the spread (ATS). He has yet to get through six innings of any of them and he has allowed 11 earned runs over 16 innings.

Chicago (+130) is coming into this one as the underdog against Oakland (-140) and Vegas has set the Over/Under for this game at 8.5 runs (-110 for the over and -110 for the under).

Starter Jonathan Lucroy received an off-day yesterday, so Maxwell will head to the bench against White Sox starter Reynaldo Lopez. Mengden is now 1-2 with a 6.19 ERA for the Athletics through three starts.

After the conclusion of this series against Oakland, the Sox will return home for a six-game homestand. That year, he finished with a 2-9 record in 14 starts with a 6.50 ERA. The offense for the A's came off the bat of Jed Lowrie, who hit a two-run homer just three batters into the game. They've lost 4.0 units for gamblers taking the moneyline this year and 2.9 units ATS. His WHIP is just 0.85 while his ERA is 0.69.

As a unit, Oakland's pitching staff has allowed 5.3 runs per game overall this season. Lopez has showed improvement from his stint with the Sox past year, but could certainly use more run support from the team's offense.

The Chicago White Sox have had three extra days off and they are hoping to get on track after a rough start to the year. That pen is well rested, but still, it carries a 5.35 ERA into this game, which is 26th in the league.

The White Sox have hit 10 home runs in their last 10 games. Chicago hasn't been playing well anyway, losing six of their last seven games prior to this break. I feel that we will see a high scoring game. The Athletics jersey, designed that season to celebrate their first in their new city, reads "OAKLAND" arched across the front in a green and gold Olde-English styled font (oh please, oh please have your coaches wearing white caps for the game). The A's have been hot offensively and we can not expect Lopez to carry a 0.69 ERA the whole season, plus he has one of the worst pens in the league behind him. Oakland has covered the spread only twice over its last seven games and the over has cashed in five of those seven.
