Other noteworthy matches included The Undertaker making his return to pin John Cena in just under three minutes, Daniel Bryan returning to wrestling after a two-year retirement to help Shane McMahon defeat Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn Ronda Rousey making her WWE debut and forcing Stephanie McMahon to tap out to an armbar.

"It's insane, there's just this buzz about it and she helps bring it", says Sasha Banks who was the first woman to headline a WWE pay-per-view event in 2016.

In many ways, then, Rousey is part of a team now, even if she's destined for a WWE career as a singles performer.

Wrestlemania 34 has come and-after seven-plus hours-gone. Hopefully, I satisfied a lot of skeptics tonight.

"I think it's wonderful", Irish wrestler Becky Lynch tells BBC Radio 1Xtra's Ace, "because it brings such a spotlight to the women's division and to the company in general". They really accepted me from day one.

'I feel absolutely ecstatic, ' Rousey said after the match.

I underestimated how kind the WWE Universe would be. This realization could be exactly what Rousey needed after her two most recent UFC losses sent her into depression on the heels of an fantastic 12-fight MMA winning streak. I thought I would never say this, but I'm so happy I lost those fights because it led me here.

"Everything really does happen for a reason". I'm just really, really glad I gave it time instead of giving up and feeling it was the end of the world. I thought I never would be [grateful] for [the losses], but time is a great teacher.

The buildup to the match had been reaching a crescendo in recent weeks with both teams trying to get the upper hand going into the tag team clash at WrestleMania, WWE's flagship pay-per-view. I really believe it now. Ronda Rousey killed it.
