Manchester United are reportedly planning to launch a bid for Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal.

With Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and the emergence of Scotland global Scott McTominay giving Mourinho options in midfield, the Manchester United manager is looking to cover for the retiring Michael Carrick and Belgium worldwide Marouane Fellaini, who is expected to leave Old Trafford at the end of the current season.

Manchester United are leading the chase for Bayern midfielder Arturo Vidal.

The 31-year-old has a contract with the Bavarian side that runs until 2019, and he is apparently keen on staying until the end of that deal due to being settled in Munich.

United's hopes of signing Vidal could be helped by the fact his agent is Fernando Felicevich.

Bayern could be more open to letting Vidal go in the summer after signing Leon Goretzka on a free transfer.

"Antonio Conte worked with Vidal whilst at Juventus, but with the Italian looking increasingly likely to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer, a move to the Premier League Champions may be hampered".

However, the arrival of Sanchez would make the Theatre of Dreams an attractive option for the Chile worldwide, as he would team up with his compatriot for both club and country.

Vidal is the "standout candidate", according to Robson, but he added Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is also being considered along with Jean Michael Seri, Marco Verratti, Fred and Jorginho.
