Winnipeg survived a third-period surge by Boston and won the shootout for a 5-4 win over the Bruins on Tuesday night. After Donato scored for Boston, Scheifele tied it with a beauty under the bar and then, in the fourth round, Laine won it with a picturesque deke and then squeezed the puck under Khudobin. "It was just a great feeling".

After winning 14 of 15 games and opening a 10-point lead in the Central Division, the Nashville Predators were due for a fall. "We're going to push him real hard, he's going to feel good on the day he walks in and says, 'You've gotta put me back in now'". "That line doesn't really have a glamourous job". They've done just an outstanding job of it all year, especially when they've been healthy. It's the final time that the two clubs will go at it in the regular season. "That was as excited as I've seen our bench all year".

Krug added another power-play goal on a slap shot from the left circle to again knot the score with 11:54 to go.

"It's tough to play in this building", Pastrnak said.

Connor Hellebuyck has stopped 28.1 shots per game as the primary choice in goal for the Jets. It was also their seventh straight victory at home. Winnipeg begins a four-game road trip Thursday against the Chicago Blackhawks.

With a 3-1 lead, the Jets had momentum on their side after Tanev's second of the game, and former Bruin Joe Morrow propelled them to the two-goal advantage just 6:25 into the second.

The Bruins responded by pumping in a pair of power-play goals, first by Heinen and then Pastrnak.

The B's fell behind early after an official allowed a questionable goal by Jets winger Brandon Tanev to stand, and it looked like Boston would enter the first intermission down 1-0, but rookie Ryan Donato answered right before the buzzer. The Jets took a 4-3 lead on Tanev's third of the game, a short-handed wrap-around goal at 4:29. Instead, Torey Krug was cross-checked by Mark Scheifele, and capitalized on the ensuing power-play with his 14th goal of the season. Winnipeg was outshooting the visitors 21-20.

"It was kind of a weird game", Wheeler said. On the other hand, its penalty kill is ranked sixth overall, and it has successfully killed off 82.7 percent of its penalties. The guys out on the kill lost their juice a little bit. Of course, Grzelcyk turned into the boards just to embellish the hit a bit more and he got the job done.

Patrik Laine scored the deciding goal in the shootout and Brandon Tanev had his first career hat trick as the playoff-bound Winnipeg Jets topped the Boston Bruins 5-4 on Tuesday to sweep a six-game homestand. The unassisted marker was Donato's third goal and fifth point in his fifth National Hockey League game. Three games in four days against Toronto, Minnesota and Winnipeg - the last two on the road - provided the proper setup for a slump. But the Bruins can take some silver linings back home before preparing for an epic showdown Thursday night against the Lightning with first place in the Eastern Conference on the line.
