One terrorist killed in Kashmir's Budgam encounter, searches on

The forces have also recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the site.

A terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.

She has been promptly evacuated to hospital by the police for medical treatment and her condition is now reported to be stable, police claimed. The area is under cordon and search is being done.

Following a tip-off regarding the presence of militants in Khan Mohalla of Arizal in Beerwah area of Budgam district, the forces cordoned off the area and launched the search operation to nab to the terrorist.

He said that during the search operation, one militant while trying to flee came out of the house he was hiding in and fired indiscriminately at the forces. As the forces retaliated, one terrorist was killed and a civilian was injured.

Locals reports said that people in large numbers started visiting towards slain militant's home, amid pro-freedom sloganeering in the area.

No collateral damage has occurred during operation.

Meanwhile, authorities suspended internet services in parts of Baramulla soon after news of Shafat's killing spread. "Legal proceedings have been initiated by police and invesgation taken up", police said.
