Three terrorists killed in Anantnag encounter

According to police following credible leads of presence of militant the police and security forces started search in the Hakoora area of Anantnag district.

A police spokesman said arms like AK-47 and ammunition was recovered from the site of the encounter.

From the 3 slain militants, two have been identified as Eesa Fazli of Soura area in Srinagar and Syed Owais Shafi of Kokernag while the third is yet to be identified. The group affiliation of the slain militants was not immediately known.

"While the search was on, the hiding militants fired upon the party ensuing an encounter during which three militants were killed", it added. "His father had through social media issued appeals to his son to return home but in vain", said the sources.

Further, in the said incident no collateral damage has taken place.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered the closure of schools and colleges in anticipation of protests against the killing of three militants last night in Anantnag in south Kashmir.

Restrictions have been imposed in old Srinagar city and high-speed internet is also down.

One of the killed terrorist was allegedly involved in a recent attack on a police guard post at Soura in which one constable died. "The mobile internet speed was reduced to 2G as soon as we got the order to do so", said an official.
