Bollywood legend Sridevi mourned by fans in Mumbai

The forensic report was released by Dubai police to Sridevi's family and the Indian consulate, according to the Gulf News, but has not yet been made public.

The actress's body was flown home late yesterday in a private plane owned by Anil Ambani, a Mumbai industrialist and entertainment baron.

The 54-year-old actor, known as Indian cinema's first woman superstar, passed away in her hotel room in the Jumeirah Emirates Towers late on Saturday, leaving fans, family and friends stunned. Her filmmaker husband, along with Arjun Kapoor, and other family members were beside her in the hearse.

Thousands of fans from Mumbai and India followed the truck carrying her body.

The family also said Sridevi was love "unquestionably by everyone". If you need to talk of Sri, let it be of the special memories that connect each of you to her.

"I'll wait until I'm able to pay my respects", he said, adding "I saw all her movies".

Sridevi was cremated with state honours in Mumbai this evening in the presence of thousands of fans and top actors who had turned up to pay their last respects to the Bollywood icon.

He married Sridevi on 2 June 1996 and the pair later had two daughters, Jhanvi, 20, and Khushi, 17. Sridevi's body, wrapped in the national flag and placed in a glass casket, was brought to the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle from the Celebration Sports Club near her home in Lokhandwala.

Initial reports attributed the death to a cardiac arrest, but forensics revealed that it had happened due to 'accidental drowning'.

There was a visible air of sadness amid all the chaos - and fans were eager to get a last look at the star. Her brother-in-law, Anil Kapoor, is famous for playing villainous game show host Prem Kumar in Oscar-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire, while his daughter Sonam Kapoor appeared in the music video for Coldplay's Hymn For The Weekend.

The star of such classics as Mr India, Chandni, ChaalBaaz and Sadma, Sridevi worked in the Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi languages.

Her friends and colleagues from the industry, including Jeetendra, Shah Rukh Khan, Vidya Balan, Arjun Rampal, Deepika Padukone, Raj Kumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra, were present at the crematorium to bid her a final farewell.

She returned to work in 2012.
