AAP MLAs Amanatullah Khan & Prakash Jarwal sent to 14-days judicial custody

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's advisor V K Jain has admitted seeing two MLAs assaulting Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash, police told a court on Thursday, remarks described as a huge blow to the ruling AAP.

The new statement comes two days after Prakash claimed legislators Prakash Jarwal and Amanatullah Khan manhandled him.

It has said that "new facts" have emerged after the interrogation of Jain, who disclosed that MLAs Prakash Jarwal and Amanutullah Khan surrounded Chief Secretary Prakash and he saw them assaulting the senior bureaucrat, additional public prosecutor Atul Shrivastava told Metropolitan Magistrate Shefali Barnala Tondon.

Amid Kejriwal-led AAP claims that Prakash and others were cooking up the assault story to defame the city government, police informed the court that Jain had recorded the statement under Section 164 of the CrPC.

Yesterday, two AAP MLAs were arrested and sent to judicial custody in connection with the alleged assault.

During the hearing today, Shrivastava told the court that Jain had called the chief secretary for a meeting at 08:45 pm on Monday, and at 10:00 pm the officer confirmed to him that he would attend the meeting.

According to the statement, Jain also saw that the Chief Secretary's spectacles had fallen to the ground and the Chief Secretary picked them up and left the room. Thereafter, he went to the washroom. Anshu Prakash also stated that he was attacked in Kejriwal's presence.

The AAP had denied the charges of assault and said that the Chief Secretary was making allegations at the behest of the BJP.

The associations of all IAS, Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service (DANICS) and Delhi Administration Subordinate Services (DASS) have decided that all the government employees will observe a five-minute silence outside their respective offices on all working days at 1.30 pm during lunch time. BJP workers staged a massive protest outside Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia's residence.
