About her equation with Zoya, Ranveer had earlier told IANS in an interview, "Zoya is more than a director (to me)".

Gully Boy is inspired from the life of rapper Divine, who grew up in the suburbs of Mumbai and raised his charm to the stardom in music world.

In the poster, Ranveer Singh is seen donning the typical rapper boy avatar, who is lost in his own thoughts but Alia Bhatt, it appears will be seen playing the role of a Muslim girl, as she seems wearing a head covered outfit. Interestingly, Alia and Ranveer look quite different in the de-glam look. The film also stars Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Varma and Kalki Koechlin in pivotal roles.

After enjoying the much-deserved appreciation for his portrayal of Alauddin Khalji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat, Ranveer Singh has officially moved on to his next project (thank god). Obviously, as of now, we can not know the reason behind their pensive moods but thankfully the release date of Gully Boy is February 14, 2019, aka on Valentine's Day has also been announced to figure out the mystery. In addition, minor scars are also visible on her face.

The actress had recently shared a photo on her Instagram account where she is seen occupied reading a script. She captioned the photo as, "The party is where the script is". Gully boy and Brahmastra prep time? This is the second time when Ranveer Singh is working with one of his favourite directors Zoya Akhtar.
